Colour coded grille!!

Been waiting for some decent dry weather to start my grille for a while now, got my paint's last week. So i started today by taking it off the car(very easy to do), then following mixmans how to on AOC started unclipping the clips from the back plate. Straight forward also but take care when doing this as there really brittle. Took the griffin off by prising it from the plastic. then started rubbing down all the the chrome with rough sand paper. 1 tedious hour later i started with the primer. Starting the black about 5 tomorow so i'll add some pics later on tomorow. This better look the shizzle or our lass will cut my nuts off!!!!

looking good mate just hope you rubbed the crome down well or paint wont stick

Yeah thats my main concern, when would i spot this if it starts happenin? while i'm rubbing down the primer?

yeah if primers dryed proper you will notice if it starts flaking but if you took all the shine off chrome should be ok mate

ha, fingers and toes crossed then eh!! Don't think the wife would like me buyin a new front grill.

Right, the backs gone on really well. No runs or patches and looks realy nice. Next problem is that when its dry in another 12 hours the next step of the how to is to wet n dry the paint to flaten it. BUUUT, did some readin and theres different opinions about doing this to a pearl paint. Any help from you guys would be appreciated. Just feels a little rough to the touch at the mo.

rub down a little to take the gloss shine off it ready for the lacquer?

just get a very fine wet and dry and go steady just to take shine off the laquer
dont rush it mate

lacquer on, back on the zaf tomorow morning!!! Chuffin bugs landed on it and buggered a small part of it up but unless you know its there you can't tell.

i would love to do this to mine but i havent the bottle and i guess trying to match and spray technical grey would be a pain in the arse
plus the front upper and lower grille is full of bloody chrome:( but unless i win the lottery it will have to stay,lol

I've not tried anything like this before either. Was looking at vxr grill's and after paint there about hundred and fifty quid.
