HI THERE, BARRY VRS HERE, NEW TO THE FORUM, JUST BOUGHT A ZAFIRA GSI, COMPLETELY STANDARD, MOVED ON FROM AN OCTAVIA VRS , WHATS THE FIRST MODS I SHOULD CARRY OUT TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE, WOULD LIKE TO REACH NEAR 250 BHP WITH LITTLE SPEND AS POSS , AND KEEP THE ENGINE LOOKING AS OE AS POSS BLACK SILICONE HOSES. BOOST PIPES ETC, SLEEPER

first mods would be a filter,boost pipe,pre cat,vxr turbo,exhaust and map that should see you around the 240bhp maybe a little more. the next stage would be front mount intercooler,injectors,vxr air flow and that should take it to around the 280bhp mark

THANKS FOR THE REPLY MADGEZZA, 240BHP SOUNDS A GOOD PLACE TO START, IS THERE SOMEWHERE ON THIS SITE WITH STEP BY STEP DIY MODS?, I FEEL A LOT OF TURBO LAG FROM MINE WHATS THE BEST DUMP/RECIRC VALVE SET UP TO RUN? WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE CDTDI FRONTFEED AIRBOX CONVERSION KIT, IS IT WORTH IT OR SHOULD I JUST MOD THE STANDARD AIR BOX? WHAT BHP AND MODS ARE YOU RUNNING AND HAVE YOU FELT A BIG DIFFERENCE FROM STANDARD, MISS THE POWER FROM MY OCTAVIA VRS WAS SITTING AT 280BHP, NEEDED THE ROOM FOR THE KIDS, FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ON THE NET THE GSI SEEMS A GOOD BASE CAR FOR BIG POWER FOR LITTLE MONEY.

there alot of different feedback on the cdi air box and some say there is no difference and some say there is but theres been a few tests done and it only realy seems to make any sort of difference if you going to be running big power. ive just recently done the vxr turbo on mine and am also running a full stainless exhaust, precat, standard airbox with courtenay filter and deristricted, vec c inlet pipe, cossie plugs and solid boost pipe with collins d/v. im off to get it remaped friday so hopeing for some good results (fingers crossed). dump valve i would have to say collins is best by far, i had a baileys on mine and it just wasnt right so i changed to the collins (which i did a group buy on) and wouldnt go back.

THINK I'LL GET A K&N PANEL FILTER, WHATS INVOLVED IN CHANGIN TO THE VECTRA C INLET PIPE, AND WHATS THE MODEL OF THE COLLINS DV, I'LL BE LOOKING INTO IT CHEERS, NEED TO MOD SOON B4 SHE STARTS TO NOTICE THE COMFORT OF A STANDARD CAR LOL

I have put a 1.9 astra H cdti airbox on mine and its basically for the looks ,although it does do away with a pipe running over the top of a hot engine..As you might be aware a turbo engine runs better with colder air going through it..so every little helps..

Baileys twin piston..dump valve ..the vec c front pipe is just a push on to airbox, and fix with small self tapper or bolt..to front slam plate..

GOOD POINT WITH THE COOLER AIR, JUST BEEN PRICIN SILICONE INDUCTION HOSES K&N PANEL FILT ETC, I WOULD SAY IT WOULD MAKE PERFECT SENSE TO GO WITH THE CDTI AIRBOX MOD AT £175 OFF EBAY

i prefere the look with the crossover kept in and as there no gains realy its a expensive looking under bonnet mod, heres mine

thats nice lookin under the bonnet, i would like that set up with black hoses and a crackle black rocker cover, any good sites for buying parts, i love the look of the gsi outside standard but standard under bonnet just doesn't cut it.

when fitting the dump valve, is it best to blank off or leave in the recirc valve

everyone is different theres quite a few running both (inc me) with no probs and then theres quite a few running just the after market one with a one way valve in there as its suppost to make it that bit louder.
