assuming you're engine is the z16xe like mine, seen one of these break the belt before, not pretty. they don't usually do it at 40 - 50 mph tho, more often they do it on cold start. your belt must have been in bad shape. this was mine after it came off..................

the guy that done the work for me told me i was very, very lucky.....

Sorry to hear that mate. My old zaffys cam belt snapped and all 16 valves were shot. The mechanic I use was very reasonable. Where are you from?

Hope that your trouble isnt much garry ...i just bought a cambelt ,rollers tensioner and waterpump for my z20let engine last weekend as its getting due time.........when i picked it up i found out from vauxhall that if this engines cambelt snaps it wont cause any damage to engine/pistons and valves as it has hydraulic valve lifters.. (sounds good to me)..

They should have cambelt chains on all cars, would save people thousends.

Much cheaper to change cambelt every 40k
