hi all.
many thanks for the warm welcome.
so here we go with my story. had to scrap my old toyota in september,so i looked around for something else, our family have all had vauxhall's before we went to toyota's. so when i found the zafira 1.8 xreg, i was zaffy a bit poorly (rev issue) Icon_biggrin . so i used it as i would any other car.then just after christmas it started to sit at idle then rev itself up a bit then settle again. i did a little homework & found out about cleaning the throttle body, so thats what i did. it seemed to be a little better, but now it will sit at idle nicely & only rev itself once in about 10 minutes, if i rev the engine it will not settle it revs itself another 4 or 5 times. so i started to change a few bits while i waited for the opcom system i ordered to come.
i serviced it,as i do with all cars i buy. then the opcom unit came i hooked it up & found 2 fault codes p0170(02 rich exhaust & p1555).
so i have now changed items as follows:
plugs
oil & filter
air filter & fuel filter
mass airflow sensor
coolant temperature sensor
lambda sensor
throttle body.
it still has the same codes & runs the same.any help would be much appreciated. as its now making me zaffy a bit poorly (rev issue) Icon_cry .

after clearing the codes when i put some injector cleaner in i no longer get the p1555, but i still get the p0170 coming up. so i'm halfway there.

mine does not have an egr on it. which mystified the aa man i had out, also his code reader came back with no codes to report yet my opcom gives a p0170.all he could suggest is that i took it to a garage.

so it now looks like it might be a brake servo diaphram leak, found it hard to spot. having it checked out on tuesday. will post the findings when i get them.

well i have now had an auto tune mechanic out to test the car, he thought it was an ecu fault, so i contacted a company called auto-flash (07500803768) in nottingham to test it. a guy called aaron came & took of all the bits he needed for the test, took them away, tested ecu that has no faults on it at all, bought all the bits back & refitted them, all for £35.
which i thought was a bargin.
at least i know the ecu is fine, so now i'm goin for the brake servo job.

guess it was unlucky to get faulty ones, could have been worse it could have ben the ECU that was shot. at least i know what parts are good on her now. i would urge anyone with a fault to double or even triple check the maf sensor, it could save people a lot of headaches.
hopefully my bad exeperience might help someone in the future & save them hassle. thanks for all the help i have been given.
