Whistling Zafira

can anyone help with an annoying whistle i have on my zaf. when i am driving along and reach about 2800rpm the car starts to whistle. if i put the foot down a bit it stops but when the the car reaches the spped according to my foot position is it whisles again if i ease off on the throttle the whistle stops.
has anyone else encountered this.

The only thing I can think it could be is an air leak somewhere like the air intake or breather pipes.

Might be worth checking the intake jubilee clips and breather pipes

I had (almost) the same experience, but started around 1700 rpm for my 1,7 CDTI. The solution was the change of the leaky turbo pipe.

thanks for the info, but mine does not have turbo.

have been told i need to change throttle body. vauxhall field remedy 2801.

i agree with nixoro on this one, as my k&n filter use to make the same noise, so sounds air intake related to me but could be wrong

Remedy:

replace the throttle body according Service Information document "Replace throttle valve module". Use a new sealing.For vehicles Astra-H and Zafira-B the blowby tube partnumber: 55559255 / cataloguenumber: 56 56 137 has to be used. Improved throttle units with new partnumber: 93187697 / catalognumber: 58 25 247 are available via P&A. FunctionalGroup:J - EngineComplaint Group:14 - Noises or VibrationsTrouble Code:None

so is air intake related but fixable by throttle valve then

updated throttle body fitted today. whistle now gone. peace at last.

Was this a fix by Vx as a recall, think mine has started to do the same more noticable when i'm turning in slow movement when reversing, did you find this affected the performance aswell.

How much were the parts hope you dont mind me asking?

no not by vx, i did this myself as my zaf is out of warranty,but i understand if it is still under warranty you can complain and they should fix it under the field remedy 2081.
never did it when i was reversing only when cruising and revs were around 2700rpm,had to keep moving throttle pedal up and down to stop it. just got really bloody annoying when going on long journey.
as for parts i got a throttle body off of ebay for £105 +£6.50 next day delivery.it came off a right off which had only done 70 miles. also came with guarantee for 6 months. took 30 mins to change. you have got to use the updated throttle body part number 93187697.

i must stress that this only affected the engines Z16XEP 2005-2006.
